The journey of Kintamani Heritage Coffee began decades ago from a small farm on the slopes of the Mount Batur caldera. Growing alongside citrus orchards, our ancestors discovered that Kintamani coffee absorbs the fragrance of its surroundings, creating a fresh fruity flavor character and balanced acidity.
What was once a coffee drinking tradition for farming families after a long day in the fields, we now share with the world. We inherited not just the farm, but also a profound respect for nature and the patience in processing every coffee cherry by hand.
Located at an altitude of 900 to 1,500 meters above sea level, the Kintamani caldera is blessed with mineral-rich volcanic soil from the eruptions of Mount Batur. The cold mountain air forces the coffee cherries to ripen more slowly, giving natural sugars time to develop and creating the complex citrus flavor recognized worldwide.
In Kintamani, farming is not an individual effort. We operate within a traditional cooperative system called Subak Abian. This system is based on the Balinese Hindu philosophy, Tri Hita Karana, which promotes harmony between humans and God, humans and each other, and humans and nature.
Through this system, we ensure that every farmer is paid a fair price (Fair Trade), no harmful chemical pesticides are used that could damage the soil, and every harvest is celebrated as a blessing from the universe. Kintamani coffee is the hard work of a community, not just a commodity.
